Becky: Becky from The Hometown Explorer here at Food Trucks on the River in Shelton with BISTRO BUDDY. We are here with Deja from Khemis Vegan Cuisine. Can you tell us a little bit about your business? Deja: Yeah, so I serve organic juices, smoothies, and vegan food. I make everything from scratch, and everything is farm-to-table. Becky: What local farms do you source your food from? Deja: I source from Park City Harvest—they’re Black farmers in Bridgeport, Connecticut—and also from Sport Hill Farm. I also go to a lot of farmers markets. Whenever I see a farm there, I try to grab some produce from them. Becky: And what made you decide to start your food truck? Deja: I grew up with this lifestyle and started learning more about how our food is grown, which turned me toward a vegan diet. I also wanted to support local businesses and small farms because that’s the most wholesome way to get produce and food. Becky: Where can people find you online? Deja: On Instagram. That’s where I post everything—my location, my story, my menu, everything goes on Instagram. Becky: Awesome. Thank you so much! Deja: Thank you!
